I mentioned last time that I was going to go somewhere different to look for diamond – Creeper Cave. My trip is uneventful but good things come to those who wait.
This is the entrance to Creeper Cave, the place where I’ve had multiple run-ins with Creepers, both when I first arrived in the world and later when I was better prepared. I’ve come back sparingly since, but now I’m going to try and delve into it’s depths in search of diamond.
Here’s where a waterfall once flowed, one that nearly killed me on my first trip down here. I’ve since blocked it off (the dirt on the wall), but there are other reminders of it’s existence.
I head down and find that this barricade I’d built to block some of the water’s flow so I could maneuver.
Just beyond that is the mushroom I went to pick last time down here and the hole I fell in while approaching it. I guess I forgot to pick it after I got back up.
I travel further down and find lava. This looks like a dead end near the steps I built, but if I turn 90 degrees to the left..
… you can see that the cave continues a ways back, to a dirt wall I’d built before. Beyond that, is more cave.
The complex is absolutely massive. However, for my calling it “Creeper Cave,’” I’ve not encountered one creeper. Heck, I’ve not been attacked once while lighting this place up. Still, no diamond, either.
I head back home and shovel my yard before going down into my personal mine. While digging I hear water running so I carve out new caverns to find it.
I do, and I see that it’s flowing into lava. I block it off and stare impotently at the obsidian I need for my portal. All I need is some…
.. no, not gold. Dammit. I really need some diamond. Please, just let me find some!
SCORE! There were four pieces here so I mined them all up and headed for the surface. Why go there, and not dig up the obsidian just in the other room?
Because I’m not going to need it.
I opted to save my precious new diamond pick and cast a portal. Now, the portal is cast and just needs to be chipped free. I’m on my way to the nether!
Next time, the portal comes to life.
