Borderlands was a fun co-op title when it came out but to be honest I wasn’t that psyched about the sequel. That is, until about a week ago when for whatever reason I became focused on it’s impending release. I’m only about three hours in so here is my First Opinion
The first thing I thought when I started playing was that I wanted to put a bullet in Claptrap’s robot brain. That has to be the most annoying robot I have ever heard. Get past his voice, and his demeanor and his behavior and you’ll get to the actual game. I wasn’t even remotely happy being given a pea shooter and told to fend off a gigantic Bullymong (a huge ice troll creature) boss. I was knocked down by this first boss creature which didn’t bode well for the rest of the game.
I’m playing the Commando class for his turret and general gunplay, and that turret is my best friend. Its cool down isn’t very long so I find myself using it whenever I get into a fight. The lack of natural healing is a pain, to be honest. You don’t regenerate health while not in combat so if you barely survive a fight, the next scrap you get in to can be your doom. Getting knocked out leaves you in a “Fight for Your Life” state where you can get revived if you kill someone before the state wears off. My biggest problem was routinely going down with no enemies nearby to kill. My tip is if you’re low on health with little to no shields, whittle down one foe but don’t kill them, and then try to kill their allies. If you get KO’d turn your fire to the weakened enemy for a quick revive with full shields. This has saved my hide so many times.
I have just reached Sanctuary for the first time so I have allot of play ahead before I can review the game.
