Welcome to part two, the second week in the lives of Bud, Will and Max AAGH in The Sims 4. When we last left them Will was doing a wood chipper impersonation, Bud was learning to paint, and Max was, well, Max. How will they fare this week? Let’s find out.

The Sims 4

We open with Max dancing away to the radio (it actually looks like he’s doing a Rocky impression) while Will plays on the computer. The computer is really popular in The Sims 4, and is pretty much the most used object I’ve seen so far in the game.

The Sims 4

Hey, what do you know, a knife block! Did Will finally pull it off? Sadly, no, Bud made this. He’s the artistic one of the group so I’m not terribly surprised he was able to make it.

So close, and yet…

I send him to admire his work, and he does… through the kitchen window. Look, I said he was the artistic one, not the smart one, alright?

Having failed out of wood shop, Will is now learning the guitar. Bud comes in to listen to him practice, chatting with him as he does so, making good use of The Sims 4’s multitasking feature that allows sims to do more than one thing at a time. Later that day they get their first visitor to the house. Bud met a guy named Eric while at the park last week and Eric just called and asked to come over. Sure, Eric – welcome to the asylum.

Eric the freeloader

Oh. Of course, he just wanted to come over and play The Sims: Vacation on our computer. See what I meant about the computer? Thanks, Eric, but you can go home now.

Max apparently had a really rough day, although I’m not sure how. He had to fix the toilet he broke, but I didn’t think it was that stressful. To Max, though, it was a terrible enough day that he called the “sadness hotline” to try and break himself out of his funk, and it didn’t help. I’m worried about him now.

Meanwhile, Bud’s painting is improving. This is his first “pop” art piece, which I liked enough to frame and hang in our living room. However, said living room isn’t long for this world.

Here’s the last picture of our house before the remodeling began. I started out making individual houses for each of them, but that didn’t work so well and I wasted a lot of money in the process. To take a break, I send Bud and Will to the bar.

The Sims 4

While Will jams to the music while buzzing from coffee…

The Sims 4

… Bud fails to hit it off with the ladies. Apparently something he said made her upset, and their conversation became Tedious, according to the game. Bud had a solution, though. Bud always has a solution.

The Sims 4

However, when said solution is slinging insults at her, I think he needs to walk away before something really bad happens to him.

Back at home, the remodel is about half completed. It took most of the rest of the week, but finally, come Friday, the build was done.

The Sims 4

Tada! The old home was finally completely removed and everything was put into the new home, including the kitchen and master bath in their entirety. I like that I can pick up an entire room and move it as a single piece, it makes big changes like this so much easier.

The Sims 4

To celebrate, they all head to the lounge across town. Does it worry anyone else that the insane blue man is tending bar, with zero bar tending experience? No? It’s just me?

The Sims 4

It apparently bothered Will enough that he took his guitar skills and played some blues for everyone. The guy with the beard really seemed to enjoy it. When he was done, Bud tried to do some stand-up at the open mic.

The Sims 4

It went about as well as you’d think it would. He was in the process of getting booed off the stage when help arrived.

The Sims 4

Will, ever the good friend, played some more guitar, drowning out Bud’s bad jokes about the llama with the three left hooves.

The Sims 4
Upon arriving back home, Bud was dressed… like this. Bud, where did you go between the lounge and home, and what did you get in to? I honestly don’t know where he found that outfit, but I made him change out of it as soon as I could.

The Sims 4

Walking up to the house, Bud finds Max asleep on the bench outside. Did he lock himself out? Was he just that tired? I have no idea.

The Sims 4

Midnight arrives on Sunday of our second week and I look back at what we’ve accomplished. I rebuilt the house – bigger, better, bolder – and got Bud and Will some nice hobbies. They finally have a decent social circle after visiting the bar and lounge, and Bud even got a promotion at his job. I think I’ll do one more in-game week as this misfit trio, and try to get them some lives outside of their house. Come back tomorrow Monday for the finale of AAGH’s Sims 4 story.
