No Man’s Sky’s launch came with massive hype and expectations. A large part of this was due to Hello Games allowing speculation to run rampant ahead of its release instead of giving gamers hard facts, but regardless of the reason, perhaps no game this year has had a bigger hurdle to leap as far as gamers expectations than No Man’s Sky. Did it reach the stars, or did it fall woefully short? Let’s find out in our No Man’s Sky Final Opinion review.
Overwatch has been out for a few months now, long enough to be chewed up and digested by most every interested party. Save one, that is – us. In this new short form Final Opinion review, we’ll finally give our take on Blizzard’s competitive shooter and see if it is more WarCraft with guns, or a Team Fortress 2 wannabe.
I began my journey into the Fallout 4 without many preconceptions. I had not heavily followed its development, so much so that its release damn near caught me off guard. Now, hours upon hours into the game, it’s time to finally dispense our take on Fallout 4 in our new Final Opinion format (which you can read more about here).
Having reviewed the NBA 2K series for AAGH since NBA 2K8, I can say I’m pretty familiar with the series. 2K series vets all know its strengths, its weaknesses, and what it needed to improve on from previous years. NBA 2K16 is the best NBA 2K yet, and considering that this was already pretty much the best annual major professional sports series running, the dynasty shows no signs of slowing down.
With the chorus of Elton John’s 1972 classic running through my head, I happily hum along as I play Psyonix’s excellent rocket-car soccer/football hybrid, Rocket League. As a huge fan of the (unrelated) Unreal Tournament 2004 mod Deathball, Rocket League’s concept strikes a very good chord with me, but is it really hitting on all cylinders, or could it use a tune-up before hitting the pitch?
We have not yet reviewed Grand Theft Auto 5 on AAGH. It originally came out in 2013, and has been re-released twice, first on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and then, most recently, on PC. We have reviewed Grand Theft Auto 4 (twice) as well as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (also twice), but not Grand Theft Auto 5. Today we plug that gap in our resume by reviewing GTA 5’s latest incarnation on PC. Is it overrated, or did we miss a gem twice over?
There are only a handful of first person shooters that have evolved and moved forward the FPS genre since its birth with 1991’s Wolfenstein 3D. Games like Doom (multiplayer and modding), Quake (true 3D environments), and Half-Life (storytelling and immersion) are some of them. Despite its name Evolve is not one, and that’s actually just fine because that is not what it sets out to do. Instead, Evolve sets its sights on giving players a fun, unique, asymmetrical shooter experience. It has its flaws, but overall Evolve does just that.
There is something to be said about a long, deep single player role playing game, a rare breed these days, particularly quality ones. With Dragon Age Inquisition, Bioware has again exhibited their mastery of the craft, producing one of the best RPGs in years and a contender for Game of the Year. Just how good is it, though?
