QUICKTIPS: Three seasons, two MVPs, zero fumbles |
Madden NFL 09
Life as a Superstar, Pt 7
The
second half of my first year in Denver was rather uneventful. Jay Cutler only
missed two games, so we didn't lose our rhythm. We finished the year with the
best record in football at 13-3. The next best record belonged to, of all
things, the 49ers, at 11-5. I ran for 1,579 yards on the year, averaging 98.8
YPG, both good for third in the league (behind Adrian Peterson and Marshawn
Lynch). I led the leaque in touchdowns with 20 and yards per carry with 6.6. I
won my second MVP award (my first was in my record-setting rookie campaign),
which suprised me. Some other notes from around the league: Chad Johnson was the
best reciever and Eli Manning actually had the best year of any QB, better then
Tom Brady or even his big bro Peyton. As for Johnny Sparks, he levelled off
considerably and had only 15 TDs with 14 INTs on the year. For the first time in
my career I got to skip the wildcard round, and progressed directly to doing
battle with the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round.
I
played well against the Ravens, racking up 120 yards on the ground and 45 yards
recieving, and we won going away, 34-0. The next game was against the Colts, so I
was naturally very fired up. Too fired up, it turned out, as I had perhaps my
worst game as a pro. I ran for -2 yards in the first half, and only finished
with 66. I didn't score even once! I'd better give back my nickname as the Colt
Killer. Jay Cutler, on the other hand, had a great game, throwing for 142 yards
and a touchdown as we won the game, 13-6. I looked to see who it was we'd be
facing in the Super Bowl, and I was even more flabergasted then I was last year:
the San Francisco 49ers had defeated Sparks and the Buccaneers and were also
heading to Dallas for this titanic matchup in Super Bowl XLV.
