In honor of the MLB All-Star Game, I’m reviewing a baseball game. The Major League Baseball 2K series has improved since it first debuted on the PC in 2009. That version stands alone as the worst experience I’ve had playing a baseball game ever – I still have harsh feelings towards MLB 2K9. How does this iteration stand? Is it a worth your time and money? To find out, ask yourself a simple question: Do I already own MLB 2K10? If so, you pretty much already own 2K11. It’s that simple.
I was really upset with MLB 2K9, but I had a love/hate relationship with MLB 2K10. 2K9 was a flat-out bad game. There’s no other way to put it. 2K10 was a decent game buried under a heap of flaws. So where does that leave MLB 2K11? Continue reading
Last year, I nailed MLB 2K9 for the PC as the worst game I reviewed all year. I couldn’t believe how bad the game was. Now, 2K Sports has come back for another year. Was that rebuilding year worthwhile, or has the series completely lost direction?
Last year at this time, 2K Sports released it’s first PC sports game with NBA 2K9. It was a huge improvement over EA Sports’ PC versions of NBA Live, but it still wasn’t on par with 2K Sports’ console versions. Online play was the biggest sacrifice. I still don’t see how 2K saw that as a viable feature to leave on the cutting room floor. In any case, they’re back this year with their latest build, and this time they left nothing out. This is the best NBA sim on PC since NBA Live 2000, but it’s not without it’s flaws.
This is my third year reviewing the NBA 2K series on the Xbox 360, tying NBA Live on the PC for the longest consecutive series of games I’ve reviewed. This allows me a view of how the series has evolved (or de-evolved, in some the NBA Live series’ case). What has changed this year? Allot. Is it for the better? Eh…. kinda.
Wii Sports Resort is to the Wii Motion Plus accessory what Wii Sports was the original Wii Remote: it’s a tech demo that sells what the item can do, while proving entertaining at the same time. While Wii Sports Resort comes off a little shallow due to heightened expectations, it’s still a fun game to get out when non-gamers or even casual gamers come around.
It is very hard to review this game, because it’s a challenge to repress the sheer frustration that it instills in me. I don’t know of any game I’ve hated like this one. I’m not sure it’s a rational hatred, but it is hate nonetheless.
When EA Sports axed it’s fall sports lineup, allot of PC gamers had mixed emotions. There was a feeling of abandonment there, but we also felt that they really hadn’t been trying the last few years anyway, so who needed ’em? Riding to the rescue of PC sports gamers everywhere was 2K Sports, bringing their top-tier basketball game to the PC for the first time. It’s a little late, but PC gamers, starved for a good hoops title, were ready to wait. Was it worth it? Let’s find out.
