I’ll fess up; I came across Forza Motorsport 3 by chance. It wasn’t a game I was intending to review, but once I tried it I was hooked. The graphics are phenomenal, the controls are excellent, and the game is so much fun I couldn’t wait to get back to playing it each day.
When Borderlands was first announced, I – like allot of people – didn’t give it much thought. When Gearbox went quiet on the project, I didn’t even notice, to be honest. It wasn’t until it resurfaced a year or so ago that I finally took notice. A Role Playing Shooter (RPS) is something that seems like it was a long-time coming and way overdue, what with the Call of Duty and Battlefield series allowing you to evolve your avatar in multiplayer combat. In that sense, Borderlands needed an extra hook. It needed something that no one else had. That hook eventually became the marketing slogan “87 Bazillion Guns!”
This is my third year reviewing the NBA 2K series on the Xbox 360, tying NBA Live on the PC for the longest consecutive series of games I’ve reviewed. This allows me a view of how the series has evolved (or de-evolved, in some the NBA Live series’ case). What has changed this year? Allot. Is it for the better? Eh…. kinda.
The NFL kicks off tonight, so I felt it was a good time to post this review. It’s time for EA Sports’ annual Madden game, and as usual I’m there. I enjoyed last year’s offering (which I called one of their best football games yet), so I had high hopes for this build. What would they do to top last year? Well, in short: not a whole lot. Sure, there are new features that we’ll delve in to that make a difference, but how much more can they add to a game franchise that’s 21 years old?

First and foremost, I love instrument and rhythm games. I played DDR when it was sweeping the nation and learned to play Guitar Hero at parties. Now, I jump at the opportunity to try my hand at the drum part.
With NBA 2K9 due out for the PC this Tuesday, I figured I’d get my review of the Xbox 360 version out of the way. This will be the first time I’ll be able to compare two sports titles with each other, meaning this vs. NBA Live 09 to see which offers the better experience. However, that’s another article. Here, we’re just going to focus on what 2K9 offers gamers who pick it up.
I’ve reviewed NBA Live 08 for PC, and it was terrible. A sad, sad state of affairs. So, in that light, I’m reviewing Live 09 on the Xbox 360 to hopefully give the series a fair shake, seeing as how this – the 360/PS3 build – is the version EA Sports has been putting all of their effort into. What I found is that this is not what I’m used to on the PC, and that’s both a good and a bad thing.
I’m a bit late with my Madden NFL 09 review for one reason: It’s good. I can’t stop playing the thing to review it, which is hard on the site. Anyone who’s been here the last week or so has seen my Life as a Madden Superstar articles, which I’m enjoying doing. This is the best Madden I’ve ever played, and while it’s not perfect, it’s darn close (for a football game).
